May 19th Royce Gracie in Glastonbury

I have UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie scheduled at the Glastonbury location on Saturday May 19th.
The first session from 9-11 a.m. is open to all members of the Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu Network and by invite.
The session from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. is open to all schools and styles.
We are also planning a session from 3 – 5 p.m. that will be open to all schools and styles.
So if you are a beginner or experienced practitioner of Gracie Jiu Jitsu, you are welcome and you’ll gain important knowledge.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the great pioneers in modern martial arts.
Each session will be $60 at the door (cash).

Great class with Royce Gracie Black Belt Jim Hughes and all of our coaches last Sunday in our West Hartford location, we all had a lot of fun. If you missed class, no worries. You can always join us again on April 15 at 12:30 pm.

Also, Doug has announced that Royce Gracie will be at our network location in Glastonbury, CT on Saturday May 19th. Clear that day on your calendar, since you don’t want to miss it. I personally learn so much every time Royce is here. It is a great experience. Please note that the first seminar from 9:00am – 11:00am will be open to Royce Gracie Network Students only. (This is where we learn all the secrets) The second and third seminar will be open to the public. All friends are welcome no matter which martial art you practice. The open public seminars will be held at 11 am and 3 pm. The cost is $60 per session at the door. Cash only.

In the mean time check out any one of our locations near you. Walk ins welcome to observe class. There will be a 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. session for Royce Gracie Network students.

Open or public sessions:
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. sessions will be open to people of all levels from any system.

It looks like we’ve been getting some new students around the network which is awesome. I’d like to welcome the new people to the network.
One of the great things about the network is, how helpful people are with passing on the knowledge. It’s one of the things that attracted me to this network in the first place.
If you’re new, welcome, if you are thinking of joining, just get your butt into one of our locations to try a class. You won’t regret it!

For those of you who have asked, have been watching, waiting, patiently anticipating, I bring great news! Royce black belt, and network Head Instructor, Jim Hughes will be in New Haven on Wednesday, February 1st to evaluate and promote. Come down for 8pm and demonstrate your skills, train with some of the best training partners in the network, and make friends with some really great people.

Come and join us the this weekend at 2:00pm Saturday 3rd in our West Hartford location for a special seminar with Royce Gracie black belt Jim Hughes. The seminar is open to all our members and their friends including our SuperKids Karate parents. Jim is an amazing instructors and has been a long time student of Royce and has many stories about his experience learning Gracie Jiu Jitsu back in the day, as well as his experience at the Academy with Helio Gracie.

Learn self defense strategy and technique that make Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu one of the most effective self defense styles in the world.

Also, we would like to take this opportunity to raise some food for our local food bank to help families in need over the holidays. Please bring canned and non perishable items. All your help will be greatly appreciated.

Also, there will be no open mat this Saturday, if you were planning to come, join us at 2:00pm instead.

Royce Gracie black belt Jim Hughes will be at the Glastonbury school on Tuesday 11/22 at 7:15 p.m.
Jim has a long history with Royce, and its always a treat to have him come to Glastonbury. His insight to Gracie Jiu Jitsu is amazing, and its an opportunity you shouldn’t miss.
Bring a friend, bring your kimono, bring your questions, and most of all bring a willingness to learn.
Jim will help you bring your game to a different place.
All of our students should feel welcome, and I encourage you to bring a friend. If you know someone that has been saying they would like to try it, but they never show up, what better opportunity than this as an introduction to the gentle art?
Jim has taught many students and introduced many people to the beauty of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He is one of the best instructors around.

The most important thing I learned from Jim in 2011 (so far anyway) is to be sure that I start at an advantage. This might mean positionally, during a drill, to start with my chin downs, or my elbows in, or to protect my neck, even when we’re practicing arm bars. Even if the point of the drill is for me to start in a disadvantageous position, I should be thinking about how to make that position as advantageous for myself as possible. Mentally, we develop a mindset to seek out the advantageous aspects of a less-than-ideal situation, to keep our practice in perspective, and to train with an open mind toward learning this art. On the street, we already have some advantage over a potential opponent in that we know jiu-jitsu – I wouldn’t leave home without that!

Here’s an advantageous position for you: Norwich, Wednesday night. Jim’s going to be there. Maybe tonight is the night you learn your most important nuggets of information for 2011.
