BACKGROUND


The Gracie Family popularized mixed martial arts (MMA) in the 1990’s by introducing the world to their family form of Self Defense developed through years of trial and error. Royce Gracie, the Legendary Champion, paved the way in his astounding performance in the first UFC’s and later in Pride and K1 in Japan. Jim Hughes is one of only a handful of Black Belts promoted by Royce Gracie. Jim and Royce developed the New England Network of Academies to preserve and share The Authentic Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA Created by Royce’s Father Grandmaster Helio Gracie.
